We have been looking to put together a brand new package for our bouncy castle and soft play hire business here in the Forest of Dean, and we think we have come up with a cracker.
This time we are including an activity castle, about the same size as our standard castles (12x15ft). It arrived yesterday and we can’t wait to set it up and take the pictures for marketing. Will have to wait until a few other bits are delivered though (groan)
The package will also include an 8x6ft ball pit with a thousand commercial quality, multi coloured balls. It looks great and will make a brand new addition to the Best Parteez offerings. We do have a ball pit built in to our toddlers inflatable play area, but the new one will be a stand-alone product.
We will also be using multi coloured, interlocking floor mats and have bought enough to cover a 12x12ft area. A large soft play wriggly worm, ride on toddlers motorbikes, and didicars will also be included. And we may add music for free as an opening offer.
We hope to have this package up and running by the end of April 2018 ….or before if we can
First thing I have to say here, is that Health and Safety is a good thing in all walks of life, and that includes children’s parties.
One good thing we did when we first started was to join the BIHA (British Inflatable Hirers Alliance) From there we were able to learn very quickly the do’s and don’ts when it comes to running a bouncy castle business.
Obviously, ample fire exits should be kept clear, all equipment must be PAT tested, and the equipment should be inspected regularly for potential faults…..and of course we do all of this.
Outside castles should be pegged down securely with industrial pegs, or sandbags attached on all four corners with the correct weight inside. The weather conditions are worth watching too. There have been a couple of reports of castles taking off in high winds, which I would imagine would be down to poorly secured castles and bad judgement of the weather conditions. Of course, that’s just an assumption, but very possible.
Commercial equipment is essential, Non-commercial products are uninsurable. Even decent quality commercial products from abroad are usually tricky to get insured. We buy all our castles from UK Manufacturers to be safe. There’s some awesome Chinese castles available, but they tend not to comply with UK regulations. I have never investigated the details of exactly why, because we would rather buy British anyway, but I have to say, some of the Chinese ones look great!
Good insurance is another basic essentiality. We use Leisure Insure because they specialize in what we do. Therefore, they have a full understanding of our business.
It’s quite rare for a venue to ask for our insurance certificate, but some do….and rightly so. Most of the venues know us now though and know we are a reputable company.
So here is a quick check list if you are hiring a bouncy castle company for the first time.
Ask the following questions when booking…..
Are you insured?
Is your equipment PAT tested?
Do you use Commercial and UK Compliant equipment?
On the day, be aware of the following……
Is the castle secured? (for outside parties)
Are there enough crash mats (usually 2 or 3 is enough)
Are the fire exits accessible?
Is the blower around the back of the castle blocked off (usually with chairs)
Happy New Year to everyone! Just to keep you all in the loop regarding our post a few months back regarding an indoor static bouncy castle adventure play area in the Forest of Dean.
There's so much to do and as mentioned before, there's some huge hurdles to climb, but here at Best Parteez we are super excited by the project and have so many ideas.
We have started talks with the local council, who seem very interested in supporting us, so that's a good start! We have also been in touch with the Gloucestershire Growth Hub who have also been keen to help. We are now seeking advice from a local business consultant, so we can start putting together a business plan to attract the right investors.
If we don't manage to pull this off, we promise it won't be for the want of trying. We'll keep you informed along the way. In the meantime please feel free to express your opinions and share our posts on Facebook on this subject whenever possible. It all helps gain momentum.
Here's to 2018 ....Hope you all have a fantastic year!
Best Parteez are winding down towards the Christmas period, with an easy run in before the festivities start. A wonderful time then to reflect on 2017, which has been a super busy year for us.
Looking at the past year, which started with a really busy January and simply didn’t stop! Even the summer months were good this year, with record hiring’s for indoor parties. I guess people are cottoning on to the unreliable British weather.
This year, we added to our collection and made the packages better than ever. A new low height bouncy castle and the toddlers ‘Walk and Rides’ (made by didicars) were amongst the new arrivals. Sadly, we did sell our Disco Dome, which seemed a shame, but the right thing to do. The Disco Castle has been tremendously popular and fits into many more venues than the Dome did.
And more recently, we have changed our party van for a newer model, which gives us greater confidence moving forward. Still not sign written yet….perhaps in the new year!
Now of course there’s the exciting challenge to develop a static play area here in the Forest of Dean. The ball is rolling, with meetings booked to talk to the relevant people, but its seriously huge challenge ahead ….fingers crossed.
So, we look forward to 2018 with plenty of excitement. In the meantime we hope you had a great year too….and are looking forward to the Christmas Holiday!!
I’m sure I have said this before, but it doesn’t hurt to say it again……. I believe We have the best customers in the world!!
Since starting Best Parteez here in the Forest of Dean 3 years and 8 months ago, we have supplied bouncy castles, soft play, music etc to many hundreds of parties to, not only the Forest, but the surrounding areas too. All our customers have been amazing to work with whilst arranging the packages, dates and times, and lovely to meet on the day. It makes my job really enjoyable.
Then there’s all the cake! I don’t think I have ever said no to cake ..lol, and I often come away with a slice at pick up time.
But my favourite thing is receiving testimonials after the event. It means a lot to Best Parteez as a business because others read them and book parties…how good is that. From a personal point of view, its good to know we are doing something right…good even! Check them out here http://www.bestparteez.co.uk/testimonials.html I don’t know how many there are, but it’s a truck load. Then there’s the ones on Facebook and Google My Business. It really helps.
There’s also the huge support for starting a static play area here in the Forest of Dean which we received on Facebook a couple of weeks ago, which will really help when we meet with the relevant people (hopefully soon) to help point us in the right direction regarding this.
So, if you haven’t read it somewhere else in the past…we at Best Parteez, that’s me and Dave Kenworthy would like to say another whopping great THANK YOU for being so fabulous.
Bye Bye Party Van!
Best Parteez will be trading the party van for a newer model this week. The old vehicle has served us well over the past 3 years and 8 months, but now it’s time to change for a newer model which we are taking delivery of on Wednesday if all goes to plan.
After taking bouncy castles, soft play, music, didicars etc to literally hundreds of parties all over the Forest of Dean and surrounding areas, it felt quite sad driving back from the last pickup this weekend. It’s never let us down and has been a fabulous work horse over the years.
We particularly liked it more when we had it sign written as it just stands out so well, and driving it around got us loads of looks and waves. I’m sure we’ll get the new van sign written as soon as possible, so people will know the ‘Party Van’ has arrived.
Sad as it is to see the old van go, we are looking forward to receiving the new one this week and getting it out there to deliver this weekends parties.
So, the dream is to have a static bouncy castle Adventure-land here in the Forest of Dean. We can visualise an amazing centre full of magical stuff for kids. One that has a WOW factor when you enter, and makes you want to come back for more fun!
Perhaps we would fill it with amazing inflatables, softplay of super high quality, climbing frames, slides, didicar tracks …..the list goes on.
A separate room for birthday parties would be good too, with in house catering from the centres cafeteria. One that has everything to create the perfect party.
And, make it all so good, the Forest of Dean would have something to be proud of. A venue so magical, people would come from miles around…..as well as the locals and tourists staying in the area.
So, all we need to make this happen is – an astronomical amount of money, support from the local council, a huge venue, and the knowledge to make it nothing less than brilliant!
Think about it though, it would create employment, generate more business for the Forest of Dean and give the area another great tourist destination.
Would love to hear your thoughts on this 😊
New party venue for the Lydney area!
Last week I visited Forest Oak Farm and met the owner of a rather fabulous venue ideal for very large parties. The venue is huge! and would be ideal for large indoor events and parties. This is a family run business and you can be sure of a warm welcome…..We like that 😊
The facilities are excellent in every department, with a well-equipped commercial kitchen too. There is so much room, you could hold a footie match there….well almost lol.
Owner, Steve Dodson gave me a grand tour of the site, which also boasts a portable stage and lights if required as well as a sound system.
We had no idea this place was available until a contact of mine put me in touch with Steve. It’s situated across the A48 between Lydney and Blakeney (opposite the Willows)
Now we have a venue to promote that can cope with the mightiest of parties. Steve and his family have also offered special prices for Best Parteez customers and catering services if required.
If you are looking to hold a large party and would like to view the premises call the Dodsons on 01594 840322 or visit www.forestoakfarm.co.uk
Didicars are amazing! That’s what we think. In fact, it could be said they are the single best thing we have introduced to our packages. Three years ago, we bought 4 to try, now we have 20 and they are out with nearly every party!! Not 20 at a time I hasten to add.
So, what is the attraction? Well, basically they are so much fun for everyone, from toddlers to adults….Yes adults love them too. They are so well made they can take up to 120kg’s
For those who haven’t heard of didicars, basically they are self-propelled ride on cars and work brilliantly on flat surfaces (not carpets) and work really well in most halls. They come in a range of bright colours and we supply 4 per package and are part of all our packages except the Disco Castle.
They can be added to the Disco Castle package as an extra and often our customers will order an extra 4 to make it 8, such is their popularity.
We have also just acquired 4 of the didicars ‘Walk and Rides’ which are built for 1 – 2 year olds. If they prove as popular as the didicar, we’ll have to buy more soon!
When they first arrive, I have to put them together and try them out…lol…well someone’s got to do it!! Even raced my daughter down the drive ….I won of course 😊
This week we thought it would be good to talk about our Toddlers inflatable play area which has been a popular item for our Bouncy Castle business here in the Forest of Dean over the past 3 and a half years.
The strange thing is, we bought it sort of by accident. When we first started we decided to deal with a company based up north, who had a great reputation and seemed very helpful, so they were the ones for us. Whilst looking through their products, we came across the play area and decided to buy one less bouncy castle and purchase one of these.
Next, we sourced some softplay, happy hopperz, safety & play mats and some balls for the ball pit which is built-in at the back. Once we started developing our packages we realised this was a fantastic package for 1 to 3 year olds, and could also be used in in our silver and gold offerings too. This gave our customers more options, especially when there is a wider range of ages attending the party.
We have seen more elaborate versions available since, however, we have not purchased another either due to size ….Some are huge! and will not fit in many of the local venues, whereas others are so expensive, it would be tricky to remain competitive.
Anyway, we are happy with ours and hope it remains a popular product for some time to come.
